Scivit – Start
Welcome to my website! I will cover topics from the areas: Earth observation and space exploration, 3D-modelling, soil science as well as weather and climate. I hope anybody can identify some topics interesting for her/him on this site.
Earth and Space
In the past decades satellites, space probes and telescopes have extended our knowledge enormously. Here I am trying to summarize part of it. Currently there is only one section describing satellite-based Earth exploration, but this will change.
Graphics and 3D
When working as a scientist I have always been interested in visualization and 3D-modeling. Subsequently I have been working as an scientific illustrator for a few years. Here I am summing up my approaches in script-based modeling (Pov-Ray). In addition I am also working on a tutorial about using vector graphics for illustrating scientific topics.
Soil sciences
I have been working as a scientist on mycorrhizal fungi and root knot nematodes for almost 20 years. During this time I also tried to get a more general picture of soil sciences. Here I am presenting the results, from soil physics to soil biology.
Weather and climate
The fight against climate change is a crucial challenge for our generation. This section is meant to somehow support background knowledge: How are climate models working? What do we know about the climate from the past? How is our weather working? …
